Samsung puts a strong emphasis on color with this Smart TV. The Wide Color Enhancer makes vibrant color pop out – in many different ways when the settings are changed to your liking. It has a nice even spread of blacks combined with a rich color spectrum. Motion Rate 120 in the UN40M5300A combines its refresh rate with backlighting and processing to keep high-action motion in crisp detail. You can use its 2 HDMI ports to switch between watching TV and movies to high-res video games – all in gorgeous 1080p HD quality. The Smart TV function does have standards like VUDU, Netflix, Amazon, and more, but it can get a bit slow. However, Samsung’s device management system can seamlessly connect the J6200 with up to 12 compatible media devices, so if you are having an issue with the native client then perhaps you try setting up a Samsung Blu-ray player with Wi-Fi. The 2015 model is currently selling at an outstanding price across the board so you should pick it up while you can if you really need a budget HDTV.

Sony XBR43X800E 43-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV

A serious contender here from Sony. The XBR43X800E is a great choice if Sony’s 55inch 4K HDTVs are too big for your wallet range.  It is a very attractive, low-profile set that has ultra-thin LEDs. Those LEDs deliver Images that are immensely brighter while being much smaller than normal LCD. The viewing angle and reflection issues are minimal in the Sony XBR43X800E, so daytime watching with a group has no problems. It also has a system that reduces picture noise – that’s more clarity in all moving images on-screen. The HDMI ports are very easy to set up to home theater systems or game consoles.  The built-in speakers are surprisingly good and can be loud enough for a normal living room without the need of a home theater system. The Wi-Fi connection is smooth and all movies and shows come out perfectly from a good continuous streaming playback. We also love the voice-control your TV with Amazon Alexa compatibility.

TCL 49S325 49 Inch 1080p Smart Roku LED TV

It’s surprising to find a 49 – 50’ LED Smart well under $500 that exceeds the expectations people look for in an HDTV, especially if it’s geared for the online streaming users. The biggest appeal of the 49S325 besides it the price is that it combined with popular streaming service Roku. You can enjoy more than 2,000 streaming channels that cover your favorite movies, shows, sports, and more. The global search function powered by Roku can find things by title, director, keywords, or more and will find a comprehensive list of available by channel.  The picture quality is clean thanks to its full-array LEDs, and with a nice 120 Hz refresh rate – no viewing angle problems either. It has a 20-button remote control that’s easy to use for browsing.

There is also an app for mobile devices that can link to Roku TVs. Any Roku device owners should consider picking this up to replace your regular HDTV/Roku machine setup. We like the Wireless subwoofer for extra bass and flexible placement

This comes with TCL Alto 5+ 2.1 Channel Home Theater Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer – TS5010. Smart functionality delivers all your favorite content with over 500,000 movies and TV episodes, accessible through the simple and intuitive Roku TV.

LG Electronics 43UK6300PUE 43-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV

This 1080p budget TV is a great combination or design, image, and technology. Its thin bezel gives it a slim-profile look. Like the other mentioned slim HDTVs it has all the backlighting advantages from LEDs. The 43UK6300PUE also has good color quality, even while viewing at angles. You can easily make it into a multimedia system from the 3 HDMI ports on its left side or wirelessly from your computer. Inputs: 3 HDMI, 2 USB, 1 RF, 1 Composite in shared with component, 1 Ethernet, 1 Optical and Audio Return Channel Support via HDMI. Those ports are pretty important since you might need to connect a cable or satellite box to the HDTV for simpler channel navigation.

If you are buying this primarily for web use, however, then you can rest easy by using webOS 2.0. The interface is simple from both side (remote and apps on-screen), which makes is easy to find your favorite show or movie from Netflix, Amazon, etc. We love this 20018 model. It also has Refresh Rate – TruMotion 120 (Refresh Rate 60Hz); Wi-Fi Built In: Yes (802.11ac). Sound quality can leave something to be desired, but at its current price you can throw in a soundbar and still keep with your budget.
