Best Camera For Selfies  Comparing The Sony DSC-RX100 Vs. Canon PowerShot G7

Selfies are an integral part of my life. Every vacation, get-together, party, or occasion is incomplete without a customary selfie. What began as a fun hobby is now a serious passion for me.

After years of online research, a couple of online courses, and of course years of actual experience, I can proudly say I’ve mastered this fine art.

My years of experience has taught me that perfect selfies are not possible without great cameras. There’s no denying that it takes a lot more than a mobile camera and a selfie-stick to click an incredible selfie.

Using a good selfie camera has helped me improve the quality of the image, and enhance image resolution. My selfies are appreciated for their great background and wonderful lighting. I enjoy using these cameras for clicking great panoramas, sports, wildlife, and as well as my favorite selfies. They are not just the best cameras for selfies but also have incredible photography features.

What to look for while buying a selfie camera?

As an ardent selfie photographer, I would recommend a camera that makes taking the perfect selfie as easy as ABC. Here are some “must-haves” that you may consider while buying the best camera for selfies:

  • Rotating Flip Screen: A rotating flip screen can be rotated to face you so that you can preview your image before clicking.
  • Touch Screen: A touch screen camera helps you take a selfie simply by touching the screen.
  • Wide Angle Lens: Most selfie cameras or phones can only take your photo leaving out some amazing backgrounds. With the help of a wide angle lens, you are able to capture your surrounding backgrounds along with your selfie.
  • WiFi: WiFi enabled cameras make it very convenient to send the picture directly to your phone without the need for cumbersome cables and time-consuming data transfer.

My personal favorites are the Sony DSC-RX100/B 20.2 MP Exmor CMOS Sensor Digital Camera and the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II Digital Camera.

The Sony DSC-RX100 Digital Camera Review:

I think the Sony DSC-RX100 is an awesome camera with fantastic features. It’s the convenience carrying around a small size camera is what I love the most. Don’t underestimate its small pocket size. It definitely has the performance qualities of a professional camera.

The Sony DSC-RX100 boasts of a 24-70 Zeiss zoom lens that has an aperture range of F1.8 to 2.8. Its wide aperture range lets me capture a wider background. It has an optical zoom of 3.6x zoom. The auto-focus of the camera works quite efficiently while zooming. It’s also quite convenient to adjust the zoom, aperture, and exposure from the lens’ control ring.

I like the Sony DSC-RX100 for taking selfies as well. It has a conveniently sized 3” screen that can easily change angles to meet your requirement. In my opinion, the comfort of the touch-screen is better than the conventional click option.

The Sony DSC-RX100 also has a fantastic panorama mode and lets you capture outstanding landscape panoramas with the help of Sony’s Sweep Panorama feature.

It is definitely a good camera if you want to take professional quality pictures without worrying about carrying heavy and expensive cameras.

The Canon PowerShot G7 Digital Camera is my favorite for selfie photography. It is one of the simplest digital cameras to use, but there is absolutely no compromise on image quality. Every time I use this camera, I am able to click some incredible pictures and which are clear favorites of my Instagram followers.

The Canon PowerShot G7 is every selfie photographers dream come true. It has everything that a good selfie camera should have. For starters, it has a great LCD flip screen. The LCD screen offers a whopping 3” screen size which is ideal for capturing the best selfies. The flip screen is pretty flexible, and I simply love flipping it up by 180 degrees and down by 45 degrees to suit my photo requirements.

Its self-portrait mode makes taking a selfie super easy. Additionally, it also has an improved face recognition system that works well to capture fantastic selfies in candlelight dinners, museums, sunsets, and places where flash photography is not permitted.  Its touch-screen has made the art of selfie-taking so much easier.

Along with taking selfies, I use the Canon PowerShot G7 X for so many versatile uses. For instance, I can shoot my pet pup as it plays in the park. Plus thanks to its burst mode I have been able to click some amazing action shots as well.

If you love capturing a beautiful sunset or an awe-inspiring sunrise, the Canon PowerShot G7 X is the camera for you. The high-performance f/1.8-2.8 lens is perfect for shooting in low-light conditions.

I’ve always been averse to huge, complicated DSLR cameras. Just the sight of those giants would scare me but this little piece of beauty is loaded with all of the features of a DSLR camera, neatly compressed into it. In spite of its relatively small size, I was amazed to see the image quality that this 20.1 Megapixel camera produces. Add to this the power of 4.2x optical zoom and an ultra-powerful NB-13L Lithium-Ion battery, I am all set for hours of exceptional pictures.

How I wish I had a camera case as good looking as the camera!!
